Judith Ann LaRocque Wetmore, 69, died peacefully Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Savannah.
Judy was born October 17, 1938 in Bay City, Michigan but lived most of her adult life in Savannah. She worked as a surgical nurse until marrying and starting a family. Judy was an involved member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church. She helped design the Memorial gardens, worked with the pumpkin patch and Christmas tree fund raisers, and along with her husband, was a youth coordinator for many years. She was an active member of the Wilmington Island Garden Club and was a true gem when it came to organizing and creating crafts for the annual Tour of Homes. Grandma Judy was the best Christmas cookie baker ever, but her biggest contribution to the world came in the role of wife and mother. She was caring and giving and greatly loved her husband, three sons, two daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren.
Judy was predeceased in life by her father, Floyd LaRocque and her sister, Nancy Kula Gordon. She is survived by her beloved husband, Clair; sons, Lee Laurie of Guyton, Kevin Jackie of Savannah and Jason of Atlanta; granddaughters, Katlyn, Kaicyn Rebekah and Alyssa; grandson, Nathan; mother, Thelma LaRocque of Michigan; brothers, Darryl and Michael of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 7th at 2:00 PM at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church, 195 Wilmington Island Road, Savannah GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
